The weather warning scheduled for today in the Ionian area of upper Calabria has been reduced from orange to yellow. The regional civil protection decided this on the basis of the weather forecast. And for tomorrow the color on the map is almost completely green, except for the yellow on the Ionian strip of the upper Cosenza area. For today, the forecasts indicate “possible storm phenomena that could evolve into even persistent cloudbursts with significant consequences” with the possibility of flooding of rivers with catchment areas of significant dimensions. It rained again this morning in much of Calabria but no problems have been reported at the moment.
The effects of Cyclone Erminio
For a couple of days, Calabria has been dealing with the effects of cyclone Erminio: rain, strong thunderstorms and heavy snowfall at high altitudes, even today there was rainfall across a large part of the region, with the Ionian and internal areas of Cosentino and Crotonese particularly harassed.
