Reggina forced to act as a spectator

Was it more difficult to imagine Italy without three World Cups or Reggina three years out of professionalism with the risk of it becoming four? The uncomfortable question is crossing the minds of many fans who, in most cases, have a passion for both the blue and the amaranth and today are experiencing an all-time low on both sides. Certainly today 2006, with Italy world champions and Reggina in Serie A, is a very distant memory and one to keep in the drawer. We need to roll up our sleeves and the Amaranth environment has already done so, considering that for three years it has lived on the unexciting stage of Serie D.
It does so with a discreet presence at the Granillo, considering the category is not very stimulating, and the away sectors are often full. It’s not easy, but there is still a window of opportunity to prevent another sporting failure from materializing on the horizon. Which would be another non-victory in the championship and which would open up scenarios to be deciphered in view of the summer. We imagine them very similar to those that are affecting the national team with general requests from public opinion for revolutions and sensitive changes at every level. For all the protagonists there would be no middle ground: either you win or you fail. Everyone, fans excluded. The difference lies in the fact that Reggina, although based on popular passion, remains a private company. The recipe for still hoping is clear to everyone: you need five victories and a bit of luck, which has never been at its best in the last three years. However, many beautiful football stories were born from a decisive push of good fortune that recently never arrived.
Today Reggina will not be on the pitch for the pre-Easter round of Serie D, but will be interested in the results of the three teams ahead of them. Nissa (at +3) faces Gela at home, Savoia (+1) faces Messina and Athletic Palermo (+1) will visit Gelbison. The Amaranths need results against predictions and it’s not easy to get them. We cling to the idea that this championship has shown that anyone can lose to anyone. What happened to the Amaranth team: leaders of the second round with 26 points in 12 days, but stopped against Messina with a draw and were defeated by Vigor Lamezia and Acireale.
Reggina returned to training yesterday afternoon behind closed doors and will do so again this morning. Believing in the feat is difficult, but it is a duty for the players. The return to the field in the championship is about ten days away, with a triptych of matches in a week: the 12th in Gela, the 15th and 19th at home with Enna (today’s recovery) and Paternò.
