Budget law that does not provide answers to the country’s needslack of attention to the South, loss of purchasing power of wages, and more Healthcare, delays in the Pnrrserious levels of gender inequality. These and other themes are at the center of the strike announced by CGIL and UIL for next November 29th, in Cosenza, in a procession that will start from Piazza Kennedy to Piazza Carratelli. A day of protest against the Government’s budget law, considered inadequate to resolve the country’s problems and in light, among other things, of the presentation of the INPS report which photographs, according to the trade unions, a country that suffers and, more in particular, a Calabria still at a loss from many points of view.

Summing up in a press conference in Lamezia Terme were the general secretary of Uil Calabria, Mariaelena Senese and the general secretary of CGIL Calabria, Gianfranco Trotta. «This is the fourth budget maneuver that leads us to take to the streets» specified Senese, «it is not a political strike as many claim, once again we are witnessing a maneuver that goes against the needs and requirements of the country. The INPS report is alarming – added the secretary – if it is true that 2023 closes with a positive balance on employment, it is actually a matter of fixed-term contracts, precarious work, and Calabria is on the blacklist for this . Furthermore, the level of unemployment is worrying, having significantly increased compared to the national average and, within this, an even more serious breakdown is that of women: in Calabria – he underlined – we still see an alarming gender disparity, 56% of women are inactive, compared to 16% of men”.
