The Carabinieri of the Compagnia di Rende arrested two people caught in the act of the alleged crimes of complicity in massacre and damage, as well as, for one of the two, persecutory acts.
According to what was reconstructed by investigators, the couple attempted to blow up a building near the historic center of Rende, leaving a cylinder with the valve open to saturate the room with gas and then trying to trigger the explosion with a lighter. In the same circumstance, a parked car was also damaged.
Providential intervention by the police
The timely reporting of a citizen and the immediate intervention of the military avoided a possible tragedy, which could have had serious consequences for the residents.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office of Cosenza, on the basis of the elements collected (which will have to be verified during the proceedings), requested the validation of the arrest and the application of a precautionary measure. The investigating judge of the Court of Cosenza ordered the custody of both of them in prison, deeming there to be serious indications of guilt.
