Giovanni Gentile, an entrepreneur from Lamezia Terme, accused in the “Operation Thomas” proceedings celebrated before the Court of Crotone, was acquitted with the formula “because the fact does not exist”.
Gentile, defended by the lawyer Massimiliano Carnovale, was charged with the crime of external complicity in a mafia association (articles 110 and 416 bis of the criminal code), with the accusation of having provided an alleged contribution to the Grande Aracri clan of Cutro. According to the accusation, the entrepreneur made his company, Edilsystem of Lamezia Terme, available to allow the consortium to invest capital and obtain contracts also abroad, in particular in Algeria.
After a long trial and at the end of the preliminary investigation, the judges excluded any criminal responsibility of the accused, pronouncing a sentence of full acquittal.
