Council group leader Graziano Di Natale denounces the transfer of nine nursing units from the intensive care and resuscitation unit of Paola Hospital to the operating block. The transition should be effective starting today. It is still unclear what could be behind the transfer of staff from one unit to another – which are adjacent to each other on the fifth floor of the structure. But clearly it should be a measure prepared with a view to the reorganization and efficiency of services. However, Di Natale is not confident: «It is not a simple reorganization – he explains – it is the prelude to the emptying and possible closure of the intensive care unit of the Paola hospital. Behind words like “optimization” and “efficiency” lies a dangerous choice that puts a life-saving department and the right to health of an entire territory at risk.”
