CGIL, CISL and UIL met in Lamezia Terme to discuss the dispute of the Tis social inclusion trainees. The president of the regional council Roberto Occhiuto, the councilor for Labor Giovanni Calabrese, the deputy head of the Cabinet Cantarini and the general director Varone took part in the meeting. Present for the trade unions were Luigi Veraldi (CGIL), Ivan Ferraro (NIdiL CGIL), Enzo Musolino (CISL), Gianni Tripoli (Felsa CISL), Mariaelena Senese (UIL) and Luca Muzzopappa (UILTemp).
The meeting was requested by the confederal trade union organizations to President Occhiuto with the aim of guaranteeing continuity with what was already decided in Rome during the ministerial meeting and in subsequent meetings with the Labor Department. The trade union organizations intend to maintain a constant dialogue to ensure that the progress made so far is quickly and concretely applied.
The first tangible result of this commitment will be the resolution of the regional council which will implement the regional inclusion allowance created specifically only for Calabrian interns and which involves around 850 people with an updated subsidy adapted to the minimum pension, equal to 627 euros per month, which will accompany these workers in retirement.
Furthermore, it is expected the activation of 25,000 euro vouchers to encourage the hiring of interns by municipalities and companieswith the aim of facilitating the transition to stable employment contracts. The vouchers will concern both permanent hiring, taking advantage of the first amendment on stabilization which later became law, and fixed-term hiring, as provided for by the second amendment which became law in February 2024.
Meanwhile, President Occhiuto has pledged to request additional resources to the Governmentin addition to the five million euros currently available, which are insufficient. With the next budget law, it is hoped that the Government will also do its part, approving the necessary corrective measures to the amendment regarding fixed-term contracts. The changes already known include mobility between entities, which can also be exploited for healthcare companies and hospitals with the accompanying function in regional emergency rooms, or in other sub-regional structures such as Calabria Verde.
Furthermore, the aim is to overcome the 25% limit for fixed-term contracts, and to other adjustments that can guarantee greater inclusiveness and flexibility in hiring. The acronyms underline that, while the negotiations continue, the priority remains that of ensuring compliance with the commitments made by President Occhiuto and the competent Ministries, so that the necessary resources are found and the regulations adequately corrected in the next Budget Law.
Although they consider themselves satisfied with the conversation they had with President Occhiuto, the organizations say they are aware that a lot of work remains to be done and guarantee that they will maintain high attention on every step of the dispute, always keeping workers updated on developments. While awaiting the implementation of the measures indicated above, the unions invite all workers to remain united to finally obtain recognition of their rights and the job stability they deserve.
