On New Year’s Eve, in Torregrotta, the Carabinieri of the Milazzo Company arrested three people in flagrante delicto, two of whom already had police records, held responsible for “extortion”, committed with the so-called “return horse” method.
In particular, according to what was reconstructed by the military, the suspects had contacted by telephone a foreigner who had had his car stolen in Messina on the evening of 30 December, asking him to hand over 600 euros to obtain the return of the vehicle. So it was that the victim turned to the police, who – in concert with the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Messina – immediately set up a targeted service and surprised the criminals at the time and place where they should have received the money. At the end of the formalities, those arrested were confined to their respective homes at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
