Two other important regional loans for the Municipality of Milazzo, which takes home almost 1.8 million euros destined for two strategic projects in the tourism and social sectors.
The new resources, obtained as part of the European ERDF Sicily 2021-2027 programming, confirm – as the municipal administration underlines in a note – “the entity’s ability to intercept community and regional funds through planning”.
The first financing, amounting to 1,087,894 euros, concerns the “Tirreno Experience: Castle and Village Itineraries” project, admitted under Action 4.6.2 of the ERDF Program dedicated to the promotion of experiential and sustainable tourism. The Municipality’s project obtained 90 points, making it the best among those presented within the “Intermunicipal system of urban rank (Siru) South Eastern Tyrrhenian Sea”.
«The intervention – as stated in the project report – aims to strengthen the attractiveness of the city through new routes dedicated to the Castle and the historic villages, with innovative tools and initiatives capable of enhancing the cultural and landscape heritage of Milazzo and intercepting a tourism increasingly oriented towards authentic experiences».
The second loan amounts to 710,000 euros and was granted by the regional Department of Family and Social Policies for the “Inclusive Generations: Capuchin aggregation center” project, intended for the redevelopment of the former Convent. The property will be transformed into a multifunctional center dedicated to the elderly and people with limited autonomy, with social-welfare services, meeting spaces and activities aimed at the most vulnerable segments of the population.
The intervention includes renovation works, functional adaptation, layout of the spaces and purchase of furniture and equipment.
