In the gold room of the regional citadel, tour operators, the councilor for tourism, Giovanni Calabresethe General Manager of the Tourism Department, Raffaele Rio and the sector managers confronted themselves to prepare the next participations in national and international fairs as functional as possible. A meeting to understand what is the direction to go in the choice of fairs.

Fairs to choose from shared with those directly concerned. Choosing a fair not because it is known or because it is a showcase, but because it is actually an opportunity for those who participate.

The operators present showed their preferences and thanked for having been able to be the protagonists of choices that will inevitably influence their work. Operations for them unexpected and very welcome, with a view to change which, from their point of view, already perceive. Preferences that also expressed by responding to a survey, with results in real time.

“I have heard in your interventions of a new tourism phase in Calabria – said the Calabrian councilor – and it is true that with the president Occhiuto he has changed so much. We have opened up to comparison, fundamental for the construction of something shared, but above all lasting over time. We confront each other to understand what the tourism model useful to enhance Calabria should be and today we are in the construction phase, going to model tourism for the Calabrian territory, in the light of the investments that Regional has put in place: from the new routes, to the modernization of the airports, to the decision to take charge of the additional tax to entice the airlines to prefer our region, to the 50 million euros put in place for tourist infrastructures. A fundamental part of this planning path is to identify the fairs on which to invest and from which to obtain concrete feedback. We want to spend the resources well by obtaining, however, the right response. There is no shortage of difficulties, but we are working to minimize their impact. We are lucky, we have everything: mountain, sea, culture, we can count on an invaluable heritage and it would be a shame not to take advantage of this moment when we talk about Calabria, finally, in positive terms. We build this second phase, we try to improve by focusing on quality, but it serves greater responsibility for everyone. The internal connections are a problem on which we are trying to make improvements, we are thinking about a call transport, to be shared also with local authorities to connect the tourist heritage. We are working and accept suggestions to connect all the territories and do not make the tourist feel isolated. The data speak to us in a clear way, we are going towards the deterioration of the tourist offer and this was possible for the work of promoting the Calabrian mountains, cycle paths and many events with international scope. We must – concluded the commissioner – to prepare a tourist model for Calabria who looks far, through which at least ten years can be planned, finally speaking of tourism in a serious way starting from solid bases “.
