After the 10km World Road Race Walking Championship race where the Italian athlete won the individual bronze medal and the world team title with the resulting gold medal, the representative of the ASD Centro Sportivo Giovanile Catanzaro Lido and the leading man of the Italian national team in this Master 65 category took part in the 5000m track walk race. The race, not being one of his specialties, took place at the Björlanda Stadium in Gothenburg and had 31 participants representing 20 nations. He was the only competitor for Italy. The athlete ran a masterly race, given the better times of accreditation of his opponents, and it was studied and agreed with his President and Coach Prof. Santo Mineo given the speed of the race. The first four km of the race saw him in the lead together with the Czechoslovakian Miloslav Lapka and then in the last meters, thanks to some lapped athletes and some disqualified people who were hindering his path, he finished in third place with the bronze medal with a time of 26:47.16, beaten by one meter by the Polish Leszek BEHOUNEK with a time of 26:44.56. Ten meters of the race and about 15 seconds separate him from the winner of the race, the Czechoslovakian Miloslav Lapka, already winner of the 10 km. Now he is thinking about next Sunday with the 20 km walk with his returning teammates and with a precise task of winning the double individual and team title in the 20 km road walk at the SLOTTSKOGEN CITY PARK adjacent to it ULLEVI STADIUM in the hope that the route will be longer than the 500 m round trip of the 10 km race. From tomorrow we will think about this last race that will close the 25th edition of the world masters in athletics-
