It’s a total clash that looms on the Catanzaro-Monza axis in view of the Giallorossi fans’ next trip. Through an official note signed by the Catanzaro Club Coordination Center, the organized fans expressed “strong bitterness” and harsh dissent for the management of public order, defining the decision of the Monza club and the competent authorities to not reserve a quota of tickets for the Calabrian organized fans as “incomprehensible and profoundly wrong”.

The lack of a structured solution on the part of the public security bodies triggered a very harsh reaction: the official clubs announced their intention to take the case to a political level, asking for a formal parliamentary question to be presented. «It is not acceptable – we read in the note – that the responsibility and consequences of choices that appear devoid of organizational and preventive logic are passed onto the fans».

The security paradox: «It is riskier to prohibit than to coordinate»

The representatives of the Coordination Center raise a concrete public order problem, underlining how the ban or lack of planning risks producing the opposite effect to that hoped for by the authorities. Correct management, according to organized support, should have focused on traceability: knowing exactly how many supporters will leave, with what means and at what times.

“We ask ourselves – the press release insists – whether it is safer to know who will travel in an organized way or to let thousands of people move independently without any coordination”. The real risk, feared by the clubs, is that the use of online sales will pulverize tickets without separation criteria, leaving many supporters in uncertainty and creating potential tensions outside the Lombardy sports facility.

Economic damage and unequal treatment

In addition to the issue linked to safety, the clubs raise the economic problem linked to the costs already incurred: «Who will reimburse the buses already booked and the deposits already paid? Who protects those fans who, with sacrifice and passion, follow their team everywhere?”

Calabria also claims the welcoming style demonstrated in the past: “We were hospitable to the club and the fans of Monza football”, recall the Catanzaro fans, highlighting the unequal treatment compared to the first leg.

Invasion confirmed: 5,000 fans expected

Despite the organizational limitations and frictions, the Giallorossi people have no intention of taking a step back. The Coordination Center has in fact confirmed that the restrictions will not stop the passion of the Calabrian fans: around 5,000 Catanzaro supporters are still ready to reach Monza to push the team, regardless of how the tickets are purchased.
