Trenitalia Winter Experience 2023 presented: here is the offer in Calabria

The Winter Experience of the Passenger Hub of the FS Group, made up of Trenitalia (lead company), Busitalia, Ferrovie del Sud Est and the newly created Treni Turistici Italiani company, was presented today in Milan. The innovations, starting from Sunday 10 December, illustrated by Luigi Corradi, CEO and General Director of Trenitalia, aim to develop increasingly complete, efficient and attractive mobility, offering connections to snow and mountain tourist destinations, more integrated travel with train, bus and plane and ad hoc promotions for families and young people, to travel sustainably and in total comfort and safety.

We are committing over 1 billion euros per year to regional transport and, in the next 3 years, the trains will be almost completely renewed. We have signed a contract worth around 1 billion euros for the supply of 40 new Frecciarossa 1000s and, within the PNRR funds, we are investing in new Intercity trains and carriages, with particular attention to the Southern regions. With the Winter Experience we consolidate further our efforts and, in the coming months, we will offer our travelers new connections for a more complete and flexible experience” declared Trenitalia’s CEO, Luigi Corradi.

BETWEEN ROME AND CALABRIA 16 DAILY ARROWS FOR OVER 8,000 SEATS

There are 16 Trenitalia Frecce trains in total that connect Calabria to Rome every day, with stops, alternatively, in the stations of Scalea, Paola, Lamezia Terme, Vibo Valentia, Rosarno, Gioia Tauro, Villa San Giovanni.

A pair of Frecciarossa connects Reggio Calabria and Venice every day, with intermediate stops in Calabria at Villa S. Giovanni, Rosarno, Vibo Valentia-Pizzo, Lamezia Terme, Paola.

Between Turin and Reggio Calabria, without changes, there are 6 Frecciarossas every day, while there are 8 Frecciarossas that connect Milan and Reggio Calabria.

Furthermore, on the occasion of long weekends and holidays, the night Frecciarossa Milan – Reggio Calabria is added to these with stops in Paola, Lamezia Terme Centrale, Rosarno and Villa S. Giovanni, which allows you to make the most of your time, travel across the entire boot and be at your destination in the morning.

The offer is completed by 4 Frecciargento trains connecting Reggio Calabria to the capital. A regional connection between Crotone and Sibari, with stops also in Cirò, Cariati, Mirto-Crosia, Rossano and Corigliano Calabro, coincides with the Frecciarossa Bolzano-Sibari to travel from the mountains to the sea.

To complete the long-distance offer in Calabria, 8 Intercity Days between Rome and Reggio Calabria, 4 Intercitys between Taranto and Reggio Calabria, the pair of periodic Intercitys between Milan and Reggio Calabria and the pair of Intercity Nights between Turin and Reggio Calabria. Furthermore, a pair of buses connects Reggio Calabria and Bari while two buses connect Reggio Calabria and Lamezia, traveling on the Ionian area, in connection with the pair of Intercity Notte Turin-Reggio Calabria. Intercity Day and Night trains also make stops in Calabria, connecting Sicily to Rome and Milan.

Furthermore, the hydrofoils of BluJet, a company of the FS Italiane Group, depart and arrive from Villa San Giovanni to reach Sicily thanks to an easy train-ship connection.

THE REGIONAL

Intermodality and capillarity in connections, for the Regional Trenitalia in Calabria, in agreement with the Region, which commissioned the service. The offer model has been confirmed for those who choose the train to travel to Calabria on board the 7 new Pop electric trains and the 4 Blues, Trenitalia’s first hybrid train: there are 22 connections between Reggio Calabria and Cosenza, passing through Paola; 14 those headed via Tropea between Lamezia Terme and Reggio Calabria; 22 those between the stations of Villa San Giovanni and Melito Porto Salvo, for greater frequency in the metropolitan area of ​​Reggio Calabria.

For an increasingly integrated travel system, from 10 December new intermodal train+bus connections will be active from Palmi to Palmi Centro, while from January connections from Locri to Gerace, from Gioiosa Ionica to Serra San Bruno and from Bianco will be active at the Roman Villa Casignana. Furthermore, the Lamezia Airlink has been confirmed, the intermodal service with the international airport of Lamezia Terme and the other train+bus services with the University of Calabria, easily reachable from the Castiglione Cosentino station, with the University of Magna Graecia and the Cittadella Regionale, reachable by bus from the stations of Catanzaro and Catanzaro Lido, while from the Vibo Valentia-Pizzo station the intermodal connection leaves during school hours with the “Nautico 1874” Technical Institute for Transport and Logistics of Pizzo, to meet the needs of movement of students.
