In the early afternoon today, around 3 pm, a team of the Fire Brigade of the Provincial Command of Reggio Calabria – detachment of Melito di Porto Salvo – intervened in the impervious area of San Fantino, to help two long difficulty hikers The well -known “English path”. The two hikers, who started in the morning by the village of Pentenadattilo to travel the path, accused Malors due to prolonged exposure to the sun and high temperatures, making the intervention of the rescuers necessary.
After about three hours of research in an impervious area, The firefighters managed to identify one of the two hikerswho provided useful indications to reach his partner, who remained behind due to a strong state of exhaustion and with evident symptoms of dehydration. Once located, the second hiker has been reached and rescued on the spot. The firefighters lent the first care and subsequently accompanied both on board their vehicles up to a safe area, where there was health personnel of Suem 118 for the necessary medical assistance.
Some volunteers with off -road vehicles and the carabinieri of the Bagaladi station (RC) also actively collaborated in the rescue operations, demonstrating a valuable operational support. The intervention successfully ended and the two hikers were entrusted to the care of health personnel, in not serious conditions.
