On the one hand Occhiuto seizes the assistance of the expensive fuel, directing the center-right towards an acceptable exit strategy, on the other the center-left rejoices in what it defines as “a victory”. It’s a shame that in the middle there remains a political-legal game about undersecretaries and the expansion of the Council which risks being anything but closed, between the changes to the statute to be approved in the Regional Council in double reading, an appeal still pending and a referendum which is in fact only “frozen”.
What radically changes the scenario is the intervention of the majority, which on Saturday deposited in the Regional Council a statutory bill proposal (signed by the group leaders of “Occhiuto Presidente”, Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and Noi Moderati) for the repeal of the previous amendment which reintroduced the figures of undersecretaries to the presidency and authorized the expansion of the executive from 7 to 9 members and another bill (again from the centre-right group leaders) which suspends the enforceability of the decree with which the president called the referendum on undersecretaries for November 29th. The two proposals will be examined by the Council today. As regards the cancellation of the rule included in the statute, it is an approval at first reading; for the second approval, the definitive one, at least two months must pass from 5 October. In this period of time the Council of State’s verdict will also arrive on the Region’s appeal against the celebration of the referendum.
