From the Region contributions for a total of four million euros, for 2026, to the Sicilian municipalities in whose territories there are UNESCO sites and geoparks. The regional councilor for local authorities and public functions, Elisa Maria Lucia Ingala, signed the decree approving the distribution of the sum in implementation of this year’s stability law.

«These are resources – says the councilor – which, as required by law, are intended for the cultural valorization of the artistic and museum heritage of the institutions that will benefit from them. Concrete support from the Schifani government to the Municipalities which, in addition to taking care of UNESCO sites and geoparks, will also be able to propose initiatives that improve their promotion and use”.

In total there are 70 local administrations that will receive a contribution: one in the Agrigento area, one in the Nisseno area, 23 in the Catania area, 9 in the Enna area, 4 in the Messina area (Leni, Lipari, Malfa, Santa Maria Salina), 23 in the Palermo area, 3 in the Ragusa area and 6 in the Syracuse area. The sums were divided 50 percent in equal parts and 50 percent based on the population of each municipality, up to a maximum of 250 thousand euros (amount attributed to the municipal administrations of Catania and Palermo).
