The center-right rally marks the path of the referendum on the single city. Everyone is in favor of the embrace between the three “sisters” of the urban area, Cosenza, Rende and Castrolibero. All eyes on December 1st, the Sunday that can make the history of this land. The parliamentarians were present at the meeting, promoted by Nazione Futura Mario Occhiuto, Fausto Orsomarso And Simona Loizzo and the regional councilors Pierluigi Caputo And Luciana De Francesco. A univocal voice pushing unitedly for the merger because, «it will make this city – as the Forza Italia senator explained, Mario Occhiuto – more competitive, stronger in terms of relations not only at regional level but also at national level, capable of attracting investments. A city that will become an enrichment, a new collective identity that grows, but which also strengthens and enhances the local identity. The single city is not the cancellation of individual identities but the affirmation of a new vision that restores usability and propensity for development to the entire area. And it is not true that Cosenza’s debts will pass to Rende and Castrolibero: it is a huge hoax. Instead we will have ten million a year for fifteen years and we will have an increase in value and prestige in every corner.”
The institutional representatives call together the supporters to «start a strong mobilization and involve – explained the regional councilor of Fratelli d’Italia Luciana De Francesco – the citizens and explain to them not to be afraid because on the horizon there is one great opportunity for growth for everyone. The single city actually already exists, the three municipalities have no dividing kilometers, they are the same essence. And who says that we have made a fascist law? Well, I respond by saying that one of the main reasons why we wanted to sign this bill relating to the establishment of a new municipality resulting from the merger of the municipalities of Cosenza, Rende and Castrolibero lies in the desire to have wanted to grasp a question that is from the bottom, because we have been talking about a single city for many too many years, the citizens are now asking us for concreteness, they are tired of the usual parochialisms that slow down the fusion process”.
