The Municipality of Vibo Valentia informs citizens that, on the initiative of the Environment Department, starting next week, checks on the correct disposal of waste will be intensified, with a progressive action that will affect one area at a time until covering the entire municipal territory. The decision arises from the need to combat the numerous irregularities found, in particular in the undifferentiated fraction, where too often materials are found that must be placed in dedicated collections, such as plastic, paper and various packaging.
Please remember that “non-differentiable” exclusively means that which cannot be differentiated in any other way. During the unsorted waste collection days, the staff in charge and the local police will carry out timely checks on the exposed bags. Non-compliant waste will not be collected: it will be stamped and left on the ground; in case of repeated incorrect behavior, the sanctioning procedure will be activated. According to current legislation, violations relating to the incorrect disposal of waste can result in a criminal fine of between 1,500 and 18,000 euros. The municipal administration invites all citizens to collaborate, adopting correct and responsible behaviour. Carefully carried out separate waste collection is essential for urban decorum, environmental protection and the proper functioning of the service.
