Vibo, public green issue. The former councilors for the Environment and Public Works of the centre-right council led by Maria Limardo respond with a note to the current councilor for the Environment Marco Miceli (M5S). Vincenzo Bruni and Giovanni Russo are not on board and try to clarify some aspects in the context of the new tender for the management of public green spaces in the city.

“Having held the role of councilors with mandates for the Environment and Public Greenery of the Limardo administration we feel obliged to intervene to guarantee our political activity exercised in the last executive and to clarify what was said in the press release by the new councilor Marco Miceli regarding the new tender for the management of public green spaces.
Given that, more than three months have passed since he took office but we are still waiting to know the political planning of the Environment Sector and despite this we find ourselves with a Councilor who announces innovation and directions, passed off as novelties, but which in reality, as the experts know well, once again they are in perfect continuity with what has already been conceived, planned and implemented by the previous executive and by us for competence. An activity that has now become consolidated practice in the organisation’s administrative procedures.
Specifically, we remember and underline:
• the Authority was equipped for the first time at the direction of the undersigned with a Public Green Census of the entire municipal territory preparatory to the drafting of the Public and Private Green Regulations;
• the Municipal Regulation for the management of public and private green spaces is in force, proposed by the Limardo executive to the Council with resolution no. 239 of 08/11/2022 and unanimously approved by the City Council with resolution no. 86 of 10/10/2023; the Regulation is now a guideline with which the administrative activity of the Institution must conform;
• the Regulation was drawn up and offered free of charge to the City of Vibo by the Order of Agronomists, represented by the successive Presidents Doctors Greco and Denami, with whom we have stipulated a memorandum of understanding for this purpose, Council Resolution no. 42 of 19/03/2021, of which the Councillor, despite having been publicized several times in the Environment Commission in the previous council session, does not appear to be aware of;
• the figure of the agronomist was already present in the latest tenders and at the sole expense of the contracting companies;
• the same applies to the planting of trees envisaged in the various contracts, always the responsibility of the contracting company; so between 2022 and 2024 more than 200 were planted;
• the amount based on the tender for this last contract is higher than what is available in our management thanks to the budget restructuring carried out by the Limardo administration and therefore it is consequently clear that the funds allocated in our management were still by far lower than the national average.
Having said this, we remind him of the questions he presented as a councilor regarding situations of degradation which today appear much more evident, despite an accounting and administrative situation, according to him, more prosperous than our management.
We advise the new councilor to pay greater attention to the activities already carried out and started before taking office by his department and we do so in a spirit of collaboration. On the other hand, and this is news from a few days ago, even his majority already appears doubtful of his actions.”
