In Villa San Giovanni a man suspected of having defrauded a passerby sought refuge inside the Town Hall after being discovered. He tried to blend into the offices, but the Radiomobile carabinieri patrol, already in the area, reached him in a few moments and stopped him.
During the search, 750 euros were recovered from the suspect, while another 1,500 euros were handed over to the military by some citizens who had collected them during the escape. The victim, still shaken, described the scam: fake jewels passed off as diamonds, accomplices ready to guarantee their value and an alleged interested buyer. With this charade the gang had managed to get 2,500 euros delivered, which had been withdrawn from the bank shortly before.
Thanks to the rapid intervention of the police, part of the money was recovered and one of the alleged perpetrators identified. For him the judge ordered the obligation to report daily to the Judicial Police.
