Fighting for life and death, the man rescued in the body of water in front of Scalo beach. The alarm was raised yesterday afternoon. The man was spotted by some people on the beach. He was floating face down in the water. The possibility that he was snorkeling was ruled out. The man’s body was in fact at the mercy of the current. The call for help was therefore sent out.
The people present on the beach called for the intervention of an ambulance from 118. Some swimmers dived in and after reaching the man they turned him around and dragged him to shore. The 118 paramedics performed some life-saving maneuvers. The man was given cardiac massage and artificial respiration. Given his conditions, the intervention of the helicopter ambulance was requested, on board which the man reached the emergency room of the Annunziata civil hospital in Cosenza. Where after preliminary treatment he was transferred to the resuscitation department.
The crew of a carabinieri car from the local station also intervened on the beach of Scalo di Villapiana and collected a series of information to reconstruct the facts. The man’s personal details are currently unknown. No clothing or documents were found on the beach. The military personnel of the Arma heard all the people present but no one said they knew him or saw him enter the water. A circumstance that makes the mystery even thicker. Also because in the last few hours the carabinieri have not received any reports of missing persons. We are therefore waiting for the evolution of events. The hope that the man will recover hangs by a thread. Late yesterday evening the doctors had not yet released the prognosis.
