“Reggio Calabria is the real novelty of Vinitaly, an event which, year after year, continues to record an exponential growth in national and international attention. A novelty which goes well beyond the value of the event itself, because it marks the entry of our city into the circuit of the great national events recognized throughout the world dedicated to Italian excellence. For this reason the value of the investment is double. A mutual investment, I would add, which my city has chosen to make in Vinitaly and what Vinitaly, for the first once, he decided to do it in Reggio Calabria”. This was stated by the Mayor of Reggio Calabria, Francesco Cannizzaro, on the sidelines of the Vinitaly & The City press conference, held in the Mappamondo room of the Chamber of Deputies.

“Hosting this event for the first time, on 8 and 9 August, means offering Reggio Calabria an extraordinary showcase to tell not only our wines, but our identity, our culture, our landscape and our ability to welcome. Vinitaly – continued Cannizzaro – is a brand recognized throughout the world which continues to grow in prestige, media attention and participation. This is why it represents an extraordinary opportunity for the promotion, development and valorisation of our territory, creating new opportunities for businesses, attracting visitors and building a competitive image of our city and our region. It is an event that generates economy, tourism and reputation, and which demonstrates how Calabria can be a protagonist of the major events on the national and international scene”.

“Obviously, the objective is to ensure that this first edition does not remain an isolated episode. And the presence here today at the press conference of the President of the Chamber, Lorenzo Fontana, and of the Ministers Francesco Lollobrigida and Gianmarco Mazzi, certifies one of the most extraordinary events that Calabria hosts. I would therefore like to express my personal satisfaction and that of the entire Reggio community – concluded Cannizzaro – in welcoming this event which will certainly give us prestige, projecting us into the national and international dimension that Reggio deserves, knowing that we can count on the complete support of the Region, thanks to the excellent work of Councilor Gianluca Gallo and President Roberto Occhiuto, whom I want to thank, because without them perhaps we wouldn’t be here talking about Vinitaly in Calabria”.
