Two stories of violence and abuse, consumed within the home and marked by years of threats, aggressions and fear, intertwine today in the classrooms of the Court of Catanzaro. The second criminal section, welcoming the proposal of the Quaestor of the Province, ordered the application of the special surveillance of public security surveillance towards two men considered particularly dangerous for order and public safety.
The two -year measure was born from the evaluation of the social danger of the subjects and their “proven negative personality”, as underlined by the judges. Two different cases, but united by the guiding thread of violence.
The first 41 -year -old man, residing in Girifalco, was subjected to the measure for persecutory acts against his former partner. Despite two final convictions for family abuse and continuous injuries, the man has never resigned himself at the end of the relationship. Insistent phone calls, stalking, death threats addressed not only to the woman but also to her family members: a climate of terror that made the intervention of the judicial authority necessary. Even the victim’s workplace had become the scene of his obsessions, a sign of a persecution that left no respite.
The second protagonist of the story, 38 years old, is instead accused of mistreatment in the family against his cohabiting parents. A past already marked by episodes of violence against his wife, resulted in a criminal proceeding, did not prevent him from pouring his aggression even on the elderly parents. The violence, aggravated by the abuse of alcohol and narcotic substances, had transformed the daily life of the family into a hell made of fear and submission. For him, in addition to special surveillance, the prohibition of approach and residence in the municipality of residence of family members, to guarantee their security, was also ordered.
