The Police Headquarters of Reggio Calabria has issued four orders prohibiting access to places where sporting events are held (DASPO) against as many individuals responsible for violent and dangerous conduct during football matches.
The adoption of the measures was made possible thanks to the activity carried out by the policemen of the PS Commissariat of Cittanova employed in public order services during the ASD Sporting Polistena – ASD Taurianova Academy football match, held on 12 October last year as part of the Promotion championship, which led to the identification of the perpetrators of illicit conduct.

A DASPO provision lasting three years was issued against a fan of the ASD Sporting Polistena sports club who, after having torn down the fence separating the grandstand from the pitch together with other fans, threw a plastic bottle at a footballer from the ASD Taurianova Academy team, hitting him in the face. On that occasion, following the player’s injury, the referee ordered the suspension of the football match which, thanks to the intervention of the police, was subsequently brought to an end.
At the conclusion of further investigations, carried out by the UIGOS policemen of the PS Commissariat of Cittanova in the context of the same football match, the other DASpo measures were adopted, each lasting one year, against three fans of the same sports club ASD Sporting Polistena, responsible for lighting and using smoke bombs in the stands of the stadium, crowded with numerous spectators.
All four subjects were also reported to the Judicial Authority for throwing dangerous material, climbing over and invading the pitch during sporting events.
