Italy promptly redeems itself in the second match of 'week 2' of the Volleyball Nations League. During the Italian night, the Azzurri defeated the United States 3 to 0 (set: 25-23, 26-24, 25-20), achieving their fifth victory of the season, the first of the block of matches of the tournament which is taking place in Ottawa in Canada. Balanced match with Mr. Ferdinando De Giorgi's boys who did well in overturning the first set at the end and then closing the second with the advantages. The best Italian scorer was Daniele Lavia with 15 points, then Alessandro Michieletto and Gianluca Galassi with 10, captain Simone Giannelli and Roberto Russo with 6. Italy, by virtue of the success over the USA, jumped to second place in the world ranking which, at the end of the week 3', will be used to qualify the last five Nations (one place will go to the African continent) for the Paris Olympics. The Azzurri won 10.31 points against the Americans, jumping to 364.77: the advantage over Cuba, the first of the excluded, is 122.24. France, Germany, Brazil, the United States, Japan, Poland and Canada have already qualified for the Olympics. Today at 5pm Italian time, Italy will face Cuba in the third match of 'week 2' of the Nations League.
