Calabria is preparing for a new wave of bad weather. The regional civil protection has issued the orange alert bulletin starting from 1pm today, Monday 16 February and also for tomorrow, Tuesday 17 February. Orange alert on the Tyrrhenian side of the provinces of Cosenza, Catanzaro and Vibo. Yellow alert in the rest of the region.

What worries Civil Protection above all is the strong wind expected in the next few hours with gusts of up to 100 km per hour.

Already in many municipalities in the province of Cosenza, including the capital Bruzio, the closure of schools had been prepared and now other mayors will most likely issue closure orders for tomorrow, Tuesday 17 February. In Vibo, Mayor Enzo Romeo has ordered the closure of all schools of all levels, state and private, including educational services for children (nursery and nursery schools) both public and private, as well as public parks and cemeteries within the territory of the Municipality of Vibo Valentia for the entire day of Tuesday 17 February 2026. Furthermore, the closure of public parks and gardens is expected.
