Today around 15:20, a call to the operations room of the fire brigade of the Crotone command signaled smoke coming out of a wind turbine located on a hill in the Torre Melissa area.
When the fire brigade team from the Cirò Marina detachment arrived on site, they found the vegetation around the wind turbine on fire due to incandescent parts falling from the engine totally affected by the fire.
The firefighters promptly prepared to contain the fire to prevent it from spreading to the adjacent land considering the strong wind and making the area near the wind turbine affected by the fire safe due to the danger of detachments and any further falling of burning pieces. Technicians from the maintenance company were also on site to trace the cause.
