A woman died after a man set her on fire on the New York subway this morning at 7.30 local time, 1.30 pm in Italy. He reports it to CNN. The killer is on the run, no other passengers were injured. The attack occurred on the F line, near the Stillwell Avenue station, in Coney Island.
The NYPD is examining video taken by security cameras. The victim’s age and identity have not yet been released. The New York subway has become an increasingly dangerous place in recent years: last month a man opened fire on the Upper West Side and then fled to a nearby station before being arrested; in February, the driver of an A line train was attacked and injured. The week after this incident, state governor Kathy Hochul announced that she would deploy 1,000 police and National Guard officers on public transportation.
