Women’s Spain are world champions for the first time. In their third participation in the world championship event, the Spaniards beat England 1-0 in the final in Sydney. The goal in the 29th minute was decisive Carmona García. Spain could have ended the match in the 70th minute but Hermoso had a penalty saved by goalkeeper Earps. From the first edition of the World Cup to today, there are now 5 national teams that have won the trophy in the 9 editions played so far. This is the roll of honor in summary: 4 victories for the United States (1991, 1999, 2015, 2019); 2 wins for Germany (2003, 2007), 1 win for Norway (1995), Japan (2011) and now Spain (2023).
