The Council of the Calabria Region, in today’s session, on the proposal of the president, Roberto Occhiutoand the Sports Councilor, Caterina Capponi, approved the draft memorandum of understanding between the Calabria Region and the Milano Cortina 2026 Foundation aimed at promoting the values of sport and also culture, the uniqueness of the territories and landscapes, the hospitality and traditions of our region within the of the journey of the Olympic and Paralympic Flame, which includes stops in the cities of Catanzaro and Reggio Calabria.
With another joint resolution of President Occhiuto and the councilor for employment policies and professional training, Giovanni Calabreseit was decided to establish the “Fund for Self Employment and Seif Entrepreneurship (Fusese)”, with an initial financial allocation of 46 million euros under the specific objective 4.1 – Action 4.a.1 – Measures aimed at improving the access to the labor market to promote access to employment for the unemployed of the Pr Calabria Fesr ESF 2021/2027. The interventions will be aimed at supporting disadvantaged and very disadvantaged unemployed workers to start new entrepreneurial activities.
In matters of the environment, always at the request of the branch councillor, Giovanni Calabrese, the Council approved the redefinition of the objectives and conservation measures of the Natura 2000 sites, developed in collaboration with the site managers.
Furthermore, the technical guidance document and the preliminary environmental report for the update of the regional waste management plan to the objectives resulting from the transposition of the EU directives “Circular economy, special waste section and remediation of polluted areas” section were also approved. The update is, among other things, aimed at promoting the reduction of the quantity and dangerousness of special waste in order to prevent damage to human and environmental health, the maximization of recycling, the minimization of the use of disposal and the respect of sustainability environmental.
Two other measures were then approved by the Councilor for Economic Development and Cultural Attractors, Rosario Vari.
The first concerns the end-of-season sales. The Council, in fact, in accordance with what was established by the Economic Development Commission of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, approved the end-of-season sales calendar for the year 2025, indicating the end-of-winter season sales from 4 January to 5 March 2025, end-of-summer season sales from 5 July to 3 September 2025.
With the other act, support for the Calabria special section of the Central Guarantee Fund is confirmed with a financial allocation of 5 million euros. The objective is to increase the ability of businesses in the regional territory to access credit through the strengthening of direct guarantees/counter-guarantees powered by resources from the Calabria Fesr-Fse 2021-2027 Pr with particular attention to the specific objective Rso1.3.
Finally, at the request of the Councilor for Agriculture, the Council Gianluca Gallohas decided to exceptionally postpone to 31 December 2024 the terms in which grazing is permitted in pasture land between 1000 and 1500 metres, in response to a specific request to this effect made by the regional breeders’ association. At the basis of the choice, the negative repercussions of the climatic trend in recent years, aggravated by the torrid summer temperatures and the scarce rainfall, causing profound changes to the situation of the land used for grazing for livestock, in particular of the Podolica breed, which has always been subject to to transhumance.
