On the occasion of World Polio Day, the Rende Rotary Club stopped at the “Stancati” Comprehensive Institute in Commenda di Rende, officially launching a significant awareness campaign on the importance of information, knowledge and prevention to jointly achieve the goal of total eradication of polio in the world.
The initiative is part of the district project “One euro against polio”, promoted in all Rotary clubs, which aims to combine education, participation and solidarity. During the meeting with the students, Rotary underlined how the history of large epidemics and the spread of vaccines represent fundamental tools for the protection of global health, inviting the youngest to become ambassadors of awareness within their families and communities.
The “One Euro Against Polio” project aims to:

1. Raise awareness among schoolchildren of all levels of the importance of vaccines and the need to combat diseases still present in many areas of the world.
2. Promote an information and training action also aimed at families, to strengthen the culture of prevention.
3. Support a fundraiser for Rotary’s international programs to eradicate polio.
4. Strengthen the presence and positive impact of Rotary on the territory, through concrete and shared actions.

The President of the Rende Rotary Club, Sergio Mazzuca, declared:
“Involving young people means building a culture of responsibility and solidarity. Knowledge is the basis for a future free from disease and inequality.”
The Rende Rotary Club, with this initiative, reiterates its commitment alongside educational institutions and the local community in spreading values of responsibility, solidarity and international cooperation.
The meeting at the IC “Stancati” represented a moment of dialogue and active participation between students, teachers and members of the Club, confirming that knowledge and collaboration remain the most effective weapons against diseases and inequalities in the world.
