Jasmine Paolini enters the quarter-finals of the “Dongfeng-Voyah Wuhan Open”, the last WTA 1000 of the season, with a prize pool of 3,654,963 dollars which is being played on the hard courts of Wuhan, China. The Italian, number 8 in the ranking and seventh seed, gets through the round after the withdrawal of the Danish Clara Tauson (12th WTA and 10th seeded), forced to leave the court in the fourth game of the third set at 3-1 for the Italian. The first set was won by the Dane with a score of 3-6, in the second Paolini closed at 6-1, then Clara Tauson retired at 3-1. The Italian will face the winner of the match between the Swiss Belinda Bencic, WTA number and 13th seed, and the Polish Iga Swiatek, number 2 in the world and in the draw, in the quarterfinals.
