The work of realization of the pedestrian redevelopment and social connection project proceeds
entitled “Let’s rediscover, protect, we enhance”. Through this project, the Municipality of Zumpano intends to preserve the value of the assets present in the area and their historical-cultural value, as a testimony of local memory and traditions. “The goal is to create a compatible intended use, to combat degradation or abandonment of the local heritage and, at the same time, enhance the landscape,” they let the municipal house know.
The main objective of the “We rediscover, we protect, enhance” project is to create a path, within the urban nucleus of our municipality, which relates the main attractions and buildings of worship with the landscape and architectural beauties. It is a question of redeveloping a territory that connects two distinct realities: one older and rich in history and a more recent one. Among the results expected by the pedestrian and social connection project there is the realization of thematic paths along paths and existing pedestrian paths that affect significant places linked to the memory of rural culture.
The Gal Sila Development, as part of the 2017-2025 local action plan and in line with the forecasts contained in the Calabria PSR 2014-2022 and in the individual measurements of measurement and intervention, has published the announcement relating to intervention 7.6.1. aimed at supporting public investments, on a small scale, aimed at enhancing the historical, cultural, artistic, architectural, archaeological, landscape and ethno-anthropological heritage in
Function of their priority public use, for tourist or educational purposes – demonstration. Zumpano, therefore, aims straight to preserve the landscape, promote local typicality through direct contact with tourists and, at the same time, create new employment opportunities in rural areas. Thus entering a more “innovative” vision of the tourist approach, the development of a dedicated application for smartphones – provided free of charge by the municipal administration – expressly conceived for the issue that is intended to promote. In fact, the development of a Webapp aimed at illustrating the history of the Municipality is expected and, more specifically, of the characteristics of the path that constitutes the main topic of this project, subsequently updated also in relation to any other related initiatives. Technically, an interface of the utmost simplicity is provided in the application to make it accessible at all levels of users, with QR Code readings. Of course, the path in question also has its own physicality. This involves the need to provide for an articulation that interfaches itself with other aspects of the urban context. For this reason, they have been identified along its extension of the equipped parking areas mainly in relation to both buildings and panoramic views of particular interest. To this end, a series of elements have been taken into consideration that allow to better integrate the use of the individual episodes. For example, in correspondence with the churchyard of each individual religious building there is the positioning of a billboard with its history accompanied by a tactile map including the facade and the plant. For the parking areas it was decided to equip them with a billboard with a tactile map, tables, benches and baskets for waste and a small fountain, without neglecting a system of
Eco -friendly night lighting.
