The Council of the European Masters Association (Ema) has assigned Porto Santo the organization of the European Masters Non Stadia Championships (Emacns) 2024.
The Event is taking place in Porto Santo, an island in the Atlantic Ocean under the island of Madeira from 15 to 19 May 2024, the Golden Island, Rifugio de Sentidos!
And today May 17th the name that is talked about a lot is that of Edoardo Alfieri bearer of the ASD Youth sports center in the Lido district of Catanzaro which once again wins the European individual and team title and climbs onto the podium twice with a double national anthem to be awarded the gold medal and enter the firmament of world walking . For Alfieri it is yet another demonstration of commitment, spirit of self-sacrifice, sacrifice, perseverance, excellent technician alongside him, his President and Federal Coach Santo Mineo and a large club, the Asd Youth Sports Center of Catanzaro Lido, indispensable conditions for an exceptional result, or rather for the results that see him as a Gold Medalist in walking which is an atypical discipline of Athletics in that progression of steps performed with respect of the regulation where the athletic expression of walking takes place and the step represents the means of expression of the dynamic and functional factors performed in such a way that the athlete maintains contact with the ground, without causing a visible loss of contact. And after the 3 gold medals won in Torun, Poland two months ago in the 3000m indoor race walking and in the 5000m outdoor individual and team race, today it represents the Italian history of race walking in the world. Just a day of technical rest and consultation/race planning with the coach and the head goes to Sunday 19 May where the European individual and team titles will be played in the 20 km.
And we wish our super Italian walker that he can once again climb the highest podium of the Porto Santo emacs.
