2024 was the hottest year recorded so far and, probably, the hottest in the last 125 thousand years: this is the data that emerges from the sixth annual report on the State of the Climate, published in the journal BioScience by an international collaboration led by the American State University of Oregon.
The report also highlights that 22 of the planet’s 34 vital parameters are at risk, from increasingly warm oceans to the loss of forested areas due to fires. These factors, the report notes, have reached record levels and indicate that the climate crisis is accelerating at an increasingly worrying rate.
