In Simeri Crichi, the Sellia Marina Radiomobile soldiers reported a 49-year-old from the province of Reggio Calabria on the loose for aggravated theft.
The soldiers intercepted a car which, at the sight of the flashing lights, attempted to escape towards the SS106. After a short chase, the soldiers reached and blocked the vehicle and inside the trunk they found 225 liters of diesel, divided into 9 cans, carefully packed but without any credible explanation. In the meantime, other patrols, quickly converging on the site, combed the hilly area, noticing small traces of diesel fuel along the road, which led to land where a rental company, on behalf of Enel, had installed a generator set to make up for a recent failure in the local electricity grid. There it was found that the doors of the machine had been forced open.
