Full light has been shed on the macabre discovery of a coffin in a disused landfill in the municipality of Pietrapaola with human remains still inside.
The carabinieri of the territorial department of Corigliano Rossano led by Colonel Marco Gianluca Filippi managed to reconstruct the dynamics of a story that leaves one perplexed as to the methods followed to dispose of those human remains with the sole purpose, apparently, of freeing a niche in the cemetery to bury a relative. Because this would be the motivation behind that coffin abandoned among old debris, half destroyed by flames, found in the area of the disused landfill in the Villari district.
The report reached the carabinieri of the Mandatoriccio station, responsible for the area, who found themselves in front of that burnt casing, even if the flames had not destroyed everything: it seems that the remains of a woman were kept inside. According to the military’s reconstruction, it seems that to bury a relative who died in recent days, the family members decided to “evict” a relative who had died years before from the grave.

The positions of the family members who freed the grave are currently being examined by the Castrovillari Public Prosecutor’s Office, directed by Alessandro D’Alessio; per loro si prospettano anche una serie di profili di natura penale.
