Friday 3 January, the community of Island of Capo Rizzuto came together to celebrate an extraordinary milestone: 100 years of Giuseppe Poerioknown by all as “Peppino da Posta”. The event, organized by the Municipal Administration of Isola di Capo Rizzuto in collaboration with the Proloco, represented a moment of great participation and sharing.
The ceremony saw the presence of a large representation of family, friends, colleagues from the Italian Post Office, and numerous fellow citizens who wanted to pay homage to the figure of Peppino, symbol of a life lived with dedication and generosity.
The mayor Maria Grazia Vittimbergaduring his speech, recalled with profound admiration the exemplary role that Giuseppe Poerio played in the community. The Mayor outlined a touching excursus of the salient moments of Peppino’s century of life, highlighting his tireless commitment to the civil and social life of Isola di Capo Rizzuto. At the end of the speech, on behalf of the entire Municipal Administration, a commemorative plaque was given to Giuseppe, a symbol of the community’s gratitude and affection.
The Proloco of Isola di Capo Rizzuto also wanted to pay homage to Peppino with the delivery of a celebratory parchment, expressing gratitude for his tireless contribution to the civil and social growth of the area.
The event represented not only a moment of celebration, but also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of a life dedicated to the community. Giuseppe Poerio, with his example, continues to be a reference for everyone, a living witness to the values of solidarity, commitment and love for others.
