Just under 5 months separate the citizens of Rende from returning to the vote. Officially the ministry’s “window” on voting instructions is between mid-April and mid-June. Considering June 2nd, a public holiday to honor the Italian Republic, in all likelihood the precise date could be May 25th-26th. With a possible run-off scheduled for June 8th. What, then, is the current political picture of the city? Who shows up and what do the parties do? Let’s try to bring order, with lots of news in this regard.

Center-right united

Let’s start with the coalition that currently leads the Calabria Region. For weeks, we have been able to anticipate that exponents of Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia, Noi Moderati, Lega and, in all probability, also Azione di Calenda continue to meet in a well-known hotel in Rende. It would seem that Eugenio Aceto, city coordinator of the Azzurri, dictates the times and methods. No name, for the moment, although confirmation of the “ballot” between Forza Italia and Fdi for the choice of candidate has arrived from many quarters. Many personalities put on the proposal table. Gianpaolo Chiappetta, Rosario Mirabelli, Loredana Pastore, Salvatore Siviglia, Andrea Cuzzocrea, Aceto himself: all “likely” candidates. Fulvia Michela Caligiuri of Forza Italia will no longer be involved, however, because she has just been appointed Arsac director and, therefore, should resign very quickly due to the incompatibility of the position. “The only certainty is that the center-right will present itself united”, the coalition confides to us. «By the end of the month our name…», the promise. Speaking of names, the other news concerns the former city councilor Francesco Corina who appears to have been appointed city coordinator of Noi Moderati.
