Donald Trump was convicted in the case of payments to Stormy Daniels but he won’t go to prison. Judge Juan Merchan said this while reading the sentence. Not even a fine will be imposed on the president-elect. The conviction, however, stains the president-elect’s criminal record. Todd Blanche, Donald Trump’s lawyer, in a video link with the state Supreme Court, announced the appeal.
The story, dating back to 2016, concerns a payment of $130,000carried out shortly before the presidential elections, which according to the prosecution was aimed at protecting Trump’s reputation ahead of the vote. Trump has consistently denied both the affair and any wrongdoing, calling the allegations a political move.
