Lazio conquers Bentegodi by overwhelming Verona 3-0 in the match valid for the twenty-first day of Serie A: Samuel Gigot, Boulaye Dia and Mattia Zaccagni scored. The Biancocelesti then regain the three points and confirm themselves in fourth place in the table; the Venetians are stuck in third to last position. The team from Rome immediately started with their foot on the accelerator and after just two minutes took the lead thanks to a goal by Samuel Gigot who, on the corner kicked by Zaccagni, anticipated Coppola and headed past Montipò. The hosts immediately try to react with a shot from Tengstedt, which hits Provedel squarely. Lazio, despite the one-goal lead, continued to push and in the 18th minute tried to make themselves dangerous with a shot from the edge of the area by Castellanos, which went wide. The time was ripe for Marco Baroni’s men to double their lead, and in the 21st minute they took the lead 2-0 with the goal scored by Boulaye Dia: the Senegalese attacker, after a badly taken free kick by his opponents, got the ball 50 meters to the foot, jumps Bradaric and surpasses Montipò with the left foot.
Verona feels the pinch and risks capitulating in the 37th minute, when Zaccagni feeds Isaksen, who shoots with a sure shot, but is blocked by Montipò. Good first half finish from the Scala team who, after shots from Duda and Tengstedt, hit the crossbar sensationally in the 43rd minute with a header from Serdar. We go to half-time with a score of 0-2. In the second half Zanetti introduced Livramento and switched to 4-4-2, which allowed the yellow-blue team to appear convincingly in the opponent’s half of the field. In the 58th minute, however, Tchatchoua makes an incredible mistake that involuntarily triggers Dia: the Senegalese serves Zaccagni who, with the goal almost completely empty, deposits it into the net for 3-0. Lazio, therefore, has the game in hand but in the 64th minute they come close to scoring a poker with Castellanos who, following an excellent suggestion from Nuno Tavares, misses a great opportunity. After a whirlwind of substitutions on both sides, the yellow-blues attempted to reopen the match with an insidious shot from Bradaric but the winger found a careful response from Provedel. In the final, the hosts remained numerically inferior following a naivety by Duda, who was sent off for a second yellow card. The Biancocelesti then easily managed the large lead.
