Mourning in the world of volleyball: at the age of 74 she died in Rome Simonetta Avalle. A very well known figure in women’s volleyball at national level, he linked most of his career to Rome, managing to conduct the team of the capital in the top flight and then to the victory of the CEV Cup. He also trained in Reggio CalabriaNaples, Florence, Vicenza and Arzano, as well as taking care of the volleyball female movement.
“We cry the disappearance of a great coach, but above all of a special person – said President Fipav Giuseppe Manfredi – Simonetta has perfectly embodied the values of our sport, polite, kind, capable of dedicating itself with commitment and passion both to the volleyball of summit, and to youth activity. During his long career he has left an indelible imprint in Italian volleyball, for this reason a huge thanks goes to her. From the whole world of volleyball I send heartfelt condolences to his brother Giovanni and all his family ».
At the federal level Avalle held the position of national councilor (technical share) in the four-year period 2008-2012. THETogether with his brother Giovanni, he was also a great fan of the blue national teams: he could often be seen in the stands around the world to cheer Italy, as happened last year in Antalya and Macao for the first steps of the girls of Velasco in the VNL. The disease of the last few months has not kept it away from the gym, until this night when a cardiac arrest was fatal.
