Moments of great apprehension in the afternoon today, Wednesday 10 July, in Torre Ruffa, in the municipal area of Ricadiwhere a man is precipitated in an impervious cliff. The alarm went off around 3 pm: the firefighters of the provincial command of Vibo Valentia, detachment of Ricadi, promptly intervened on the spot.
The rescue intervention proved to be particularly complex due to the dense vegetation that made access to the point where the unfortunate was difficult. Once reached, the man was immediately stabilized on a spinal table.
The firefighters, making use of a “basketball” stretcher and implementing specific maneuvers of alpine river speleus derivation (SAF), started the ascent from the bottom of the cliff for about 30 meters to the road above the road, where there was an 118 ambulance waiting for them with the health personnel.

The injured person, once reported safely, received the first care on the spot and was subsequently transported to the hospital for investigations and further treatments.
The timely and coordinated intervention of the rescue teams avoided more serious consequences, once again demonstrating the fundamental importance of the work done by the firefighters in emergency situations.
