The regional councilor of Calabria Antonio Lo Schiavo adheres to the Italian left together with 102 between administrators and activists the names

It was made official today, during a press conference, in the presence of the national secretary Nicola Fratoianni and of the regional secretary Fernando Pignatarothe adhesion of the regional councilor Antonio Lo Schiavo to the Italian left party. Together with the group leader of the mixture at Palazzo Campanella they joined the party 102 between local administrators (in office and not), militants of his freely progressive movement, activists and citizens, who have signed the political document in which the reasons for a choice that aims to revitalize the progressive area in Calabria and reinvigorate the action of the center -left in view of the next regional elections are expressed.

“For the next regional elections we will work united with a coalition that we hope wide, as we are doing throughout Italy, to give a change to this region in the sign of the protection of fundamental rights, starting with that of health, which here as elsewhere remains at the top of the concerns of citizens and the towns, of the right to work, of the right to the protected environment and therefore to an ecological transition that can be related to what there is a need. This was stated by the leader of the Italian Left, Nicola Fratoianni.

«On all these issues Green and Left and Left Italian and Left – he added – within this political proposal will make their contribution. Today, local administrators, citizens, citizens, activists are enrolled in our party: it is the sign of a growth of trust and consensus that we record throughout Italy but which today in this region marks a very significant passage. The regional tables – he continued – follows our regional leadership groups of the Italian Left and Europe Green and it is good that they are open, indeed you have to do soon. Of course there is also a national discussion. We have a very close relationship with the forces that I consider the heart of an alternative coalition, Pd and 5 Star Movement. First of all, with them we work to give solidity and credibility to an alternative and we do it territory by territory also trying to expand the coalitions, to make them as competitive and winning as possible. We will do it of course – the leader of the Italian Left Left – also in Calabria, supported a relationship between national leaders and territorial leaders groups, as it is right that it is when discussed very important elections such as regional elections “.

During the press conference, which took place in Lamezia Terme, Antonio Lo Schiavo said: “This is one of the most important moments of my commitment and my militancy and is a choice built thanks to the availability, political acumen and work of the regional manager of the Italian Left. My adhesion comes in a delicate political moment for our region, after five years of government of the right, in which the region touched the lowest point. A daily failure that sees us back on all fronts, from health to work, from infrastructure to rights, up to the depopulation and isolation of the internal areas. Beyond the glossy propaganda of our President of the Region, the data certified by third bodies constantly trace a disastrous picture. We are here to say that we must resist, to give another idea and an alternative perspective for our region. Then there is the consistency of a political history that comes from movementism in the progressive area and which has seen the natural landing on the Italian left for those who today are and want to say “left”. Today more than ever it is necessary to return to decline the concepts that we have neglected in recent years: the contrast to inequalities, rights, work. And then there is the battle for the development of a region that does not think about improving the living conditions of its citizens. A region that gives 120 million euros to the airport system and to airlines, while it does not mind the disastrous state of the roads, to the drama of healthcare, to work for its young people. And we will ask for all this to President Occhiuto. Italian left is the community that today welcomes me and which I thank, in which I enter with great respect. From tomorrow my voice in the regional council will be the voice of the Italian left and one of the first political acts that will promote me will be the relaunch of the motion for the interruption of relations with Israel that I have presented in recent days. This act will become the motion of the Italian Left – AVS ».
