A night of domestic violence ended with an arrest in Letojanni, where the carabinieri of the Taormina company stopped a 44 -year -old manUkrainian citizen, on charges of family mistreatment committed in the presence of minors.
The intervention took place after a phone call to the emergency number 112 by some condominiums, alarmed by the cries from an apartment in the building. Fearing that the situation could degenerate, the neighbors requested the immediate intervention of the military.
The patrols of the Radiomobile rate and the Forza d’Agrò station arrived on the spot. Inside the house, found completely bucked, the carabinieri stopped the man, in an evident state of agitation, probably due to alcohol abuse. According to the reconstruction of the facts, the man would have attacked and threatened his wife, also Ukrainian, in the presence of minor children. The woman, managed to escape despite the excitement, was subsequently tracked down by the military and told what happened. His declarations have allowed the immediate start of the investigations, which led to collect useful elements for arresting the attacker.
The man is currently detained in the barracks’ security chambers, pending the validation hearing ordered by the judicial authority. The episode represents yet another case of domestic violence which, thanks to the readiness of the report to 112 and the intervention of the carabinieri, has not turned into tragedy. A quick and coordinated action between the police and the prosecutor has made it possible to stop a violent man and guarantee protection to the victim and his children.
