This is what emerged during the meeting that the mayor of Catanzaro, Nicola Fioritaconvened this morning to take stock of the conditions and management of the city system, in consideration of the summer period and in the light of some Reports arrived in recent weeks regarding the area near the Nalini crossroads, in the Lido district.
An operational meeting, the one carried out at Palazzo De Nobili, attended by the head of the Si.GE company. – that manages the plant -, the councilor for public works Pasquale Squillacethe manager of the territory management sector Francesco Fustothe Rup Architect Giovanna Spiragliathe engineer Giuseppe Procopio and the coordinator of the technical area Giovanni Laganà. A comparison strongly desired by the municipal administration to ensure constant monitoring of the plant and ensure full efficiency in a particularly delicate phase of the year.
The first citizen recalled that, already in recent days, the administration had activated itself to promptly check the nature of the reports received by the citizens: The origin of the bad smells was identified in the cleaning cycles of the tanks, planned and physiological activity in the ordinary management of the purifier. A condition, therefore, transitory and returned, as confirmed also by the subsequent findings made.
During the meeting it was reiterated that the purifier works regularly today, also on the basis of the controls conducted by the Calabria Region. The plant benefited, at the beginning of the mayor’s mandate, of an important investment of 1.4 million euros, intended for improving efficiency and performance, which allowed – for the first time after years – to face last summer without significant critical issues.
“Precisely by virtue of this effort and the strategic value that the purifier is for the livability of our territory, It is essential to keep attention very high – said Mayor Fiorita -. We asked the management company an even more proactive attitude than the contractual obligations, so that all the necessary measures are taken to prevent inconvenience and intervene promptly, even in the face of simple signals “.
