An abusive connection to the municipal water network was discovered by the carabinieri of the Caccuri station during an extraordinary control service in the areaconducted with the support of technical staff of the Municipality. The checks, aimed at counteracting the illegal use of public water, focused on a house located in the Santa Rania hamlet.
During the inspection, a meter installed without regular activation of users was detected: evident sign of a water -free water consumption. The military proceeded to the criminal seizure of the device and the immediate suspension of the supply, while the manager was reported on the loose of the Public Prosecutor of Crotone for aggravated theft.
The operation is part of a larger control plan ordered by the Carabinieri weapon in collaboration with the Prosecutor, led by dr. Domenico Guarascio, aimed at contrasting the increasingly widespread phenomenon of illegal water withdrawals. A plague that takes on an even greater relevance in the light of the recurring water emergencies that affect the territory, especially in the summer months.
