Controls continue to bathing establishments by the soldiers of the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Crotoneas part of the 2025 Safe Sea and Lakes operation, aimed at verifying the regularity of the employed maritime state property areas and compliance with the provisions and safety prescriptions, contained in the bathing order no. 28/2025 issued by the Port Authority of Crotone on 22 April 2025.
The verification activities are still concentrating on the coast of Cirò Marina Where numerous bathing structures insist and where further illegal occupations of the public state property have been ascertained which have determined, overall, the referral to the Public Prosecutor of Crotone of two other owners of bathing establishments.
In particular, in a first inspected bathing establishment, an unauthorized employment of public maritime state property was ascertained, through the abusive laying of umbrellas and deckchairs, of about 1000 square meters, not contemplated among the surfaces regularly absent in concession. The state property area was freed in immediacy and the owner was referred to the Public Prosecutor of Crotone for the crime of occupation of maritime state -owned soil.
In a second bathing establishment, an additional illegal occupation of the public maritime state property of about 2100 square meters was ascertained, by laying unauthorized umbrellas and deckchairs and the abusive construction of an abusive terrace of about 110 square meters enslaved to the back structure. The area occupied by laying umbrellas and deckchairs was freed in immediacy while the abusively built terrace was seized. The head of the bathing establishment was referred to the Public Prosecutor of Crotone for various crime hypotheses.
The activity carried out by the military of the Port Authority – Coast Guard of Crotone will also allow to note the territorially competent Municipality, with the expected ritual communications, necessary for the quantification and subsequent recovery to the Treasury of the compensation due, as a consequence of the ascertained abusive occupations.
Different administrative irregularities have also been ascertained which led to the imposition of administrative sanctions for an amount greater than seven thousand euros. The disputed violations concerned, mainly, the absence of the assistant bathers, whose service was promptly restored, and the lack of the equipment provided for by the current bathing order.
