Today, the firefighters of the Provincial Command of Cosenza intervened in the municipality of Saracena, in Piano Novacco, inside the Pollino National Park, for a rescue operation per person.

The intervention concerned a group consisting of 7 scouts from Naples, which had lost their orientation during an excursion. Following the report, the Fire Brigade operating room immediately started the geolocation of the group’s cell phone, allowing to precisely identify the intervention area.

A team from the detachment of the Castrovillari firefighters was sent to the scene, while for the continuation of the operations, given the complexity of the land and the inaccessibility by land, the intervention of the Dragon VF68 helicoper of the Flight Department of Lamezia Terme was requested.

The recovery operations ended around 4 pm, with the safe recovery of the seven young scouts via winch, given the impossibility of landing of the helicopter for the morphology of the territory. The boys were helped in the safe area downstream, in good condition.

The intervention took place in full synergy between the earth teams and the air support, once again demonstrating the effectiveness and operational readiness of the National Fire Brigade.
