Following the recent outbreaks of botulism in Italy, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Regions, has released a directive with measures for preventing the food form of the pathology.
The document, sent to the ASPs, to the prevention departments, to the Sian and Svet areas, was immediately forwarded by the Health and Welfare Department of the Calabria Region to local healthcare companies, underlining the importance of informing consumers.
The Ministry recalls that botulism is rare but can have serious consequences and invites you to contact 112 to the appearance of suspicious symptoms. Among the recommendations: chilled soups and velvety soups must be consumed only after boiling (3 minutes for legumes, cereals and vegetables; 1 minute for velvety), while for the preserves it is necessary to avoid foods in rigonfi jars, with anomalous smells or effervesescences, keep them in the fridge and consume them in a short time. Finally, never taste suspicious foods and immediately report the case to the competent ASL.
